François Maréchal, born in 1861 in Housse and died in 1945 in Liège, is a Liège painter and designer. He is above all one of the main Belgian engravers of the early 20th century. He was also a professor for more than 25 years (1905-1931) at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. He directed this same institution from 1913 to 1920 and created the first engraving course there in 1921.
